Ajumako BRC, Enyan Denkyira Committee Hold Trade Fair at This Year's Akwambo

The Ajumako Business Resource Centre (BRC), in collaboration with the Enyan Denkyira Festival Planning Committee, has held a trade fair as part of this year's Akwambo celebrations in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District.

The fair brought together local artisans, traders, and small business owners from across the district and beyond, creating a marketplace for indigenous products and a platform for business networking during the annual festival.

Akwambo, which translates to "path-clearing," is the main cultural festival of the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, celebrated yearly between August and September across its five paramountcies: Ajumako, Denkyira, Essiam, Enyan Abaasa, and Enyan Maim . The festival traditionally features durbars of chiefs and people, organised partly to raise funds for community-initiated development programmes, with emigrant natives returning home to participate actively .

The trade fair at Enyan Denkyira drew on the festival's crowds and homecoming spirit, with the Ajumako BRC using the occasion to promote local enterprises and market access within the district.

The Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area is one of the three Enyan paramountcies in the district, alongside Enyan Abaasa and Enyan Maim . Past Akwambo celebrations in the area have been used as platforms to highlight development needs and appeal for community projects .

Exhibitors and residents who attended the fair described it as a welcome addition to the celebrations. Officials did not immediately provide figures on exhibitor turnout or sales, but indicated the trade fair would be considered for future Akwambo celebrations in the district.
