SOCIAL PROTECTION: AEEDA PAYS LEAP BENEFICIARIES
The livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP)is a cash transfer programme introduced by the Government of Ghana in 2008 for the extremely poor and vulnerable households which have the following 3 categories of eligible members:
• Orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC)
• Persons with severe disability without any productive capacity
• Elderly persons who are 65 years and above
In the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly, 1,191 beneficiaries from 51 communities’ benefit from the LEAP Programme and are paid every 2 months, ranging from GHC64.00 to GHc106.00. Some of the communities are Amia, Eshiem, Ochiso, Entumbil, Esikado, Ntenata, Akotogua, Anyinasu, Solomon, and Enyan Apaa.
The 91st and 92nd payment cycles in the district took place from Tuesday, 15th to Friday, 18th October, 2024 at all pay points, in collaboration with The Enyan Denkyira Rural Bank.

During payment, the DSWO, Mr Anis Mogtari, reminded the beneficiaries about the conditions / co-responsibilities which include:
• All children between 5-15 years enrolled in public basic schools
• Non involvement of children in any form of child labour.
• Children between 0-5 years have regular visit to health facilities for vaccinations and growth monitoring
